Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. This has been a fun project and it is now complete.
I got a little carried away polishing the lock so I will be glad when it naturally tarnishes a bit.
I have one year to get it dialed in before next deer season.
I will definitely plan to another build sometime in the future.
I highly recommend a Kibler kit to anyone of any skill level. I completed this rifle with low cost files, chisels and sandpaper all bought at Harbor Freight.

My only criticism of this rifle is that the finish seems dull and lifeless for a new rifle. By this, I mean the finish doesn't match the rest of the rifle and
even appears to hide the grain structure. It looks as if it was stained and not finished.

Here's a pic of the first shot of my .54 Kibler Colonial and my very first shot with a flintlock. I was expecting to spend most of the day getting it sighted in but it only took 10 shots. I found the best load seems to be 90 gr 2FF Swiss, .535 round ball and a .015 pre-lubed patch.
The final two shots were in the bullseye at 50 yards which is plenty good for my deer hunting.

Today's permalyn finishes are much more refined than what these gentlemen are referring to in their day. We also don't put it on several days a week so I'm pretty sure you won't fall over dead after applying it on a rifle or two a year. If you drink enough water it may kill you too.....Bob

Ha, ha, ha -- SPOT ON Bob. I respect others when hazmat is concerned but sometimes the "Chicken Little Syndrome" creeps into the discussion:. We all are going to die from something at some point in our life might as well be from something that you like to do rather than a car accident or someone shooting you at a mall .
