Phinehas Sawyer

Hi Friends,

Looking for color photos of the Pinehas/Phineas Sawyer fowlers shown in Tom Grinslade's "Flintlock Fowlers" NE26, 27, 28. I'm intrigued by what I see in the book and would like to see more by Sawyer if possible and even better if they are one of these 3 specific guns.

Thank you Rich. I did see that one and another one online but was hoping to find color photos of the fowlers from the book. Oh well no biggie, thank you for the link.

I had been eyeing that gun.  I think it's pretty fantastic.  Picture straightening out the drop a bit, by bending it through the wrist region and I think it would be about perfect.

LOL - maybe, maybe not. A somewhat straightened butt would indeed made for a nice shooting gun.

Nope, no plans.  I was just eyeing this several years ago when it came up for auction.  I think it's really beautiful.

Jim’s idea above got me thinking. Auction site gun is Dated circa 1775. NE-26 & 27 from Grinslade's book are dated 1776, all three with similar drops. NE28 however, dated 1777, has less drop and seems straighter at the wrist. I suppose the gunsmith might’ve thought the same thing and adjusted this on later guns. Very cool if true.
