Kibler Colonial/WoodsRunner Weights
« on: October 19, 2022, 06:20:37 AM »
Have seen several threads about Kiblers Colonial vs WoodsRunner weights vs the calibers they are available in. Several posts have made mention the weights of each model and the calibers they are in are listed on the Kibler website, but I can't find any info at Kibler. Some posts gave some detail on certain calibers/models, but not a complete listing. Did a search here but no luck. Anyone have a listing what each model's weights are in calibers available or have info where it can be found. Thank you.

I’d email Jim and ask.

Bound to vary based on the wood and caliber.  Jim would be the most accurate source, but I'll relate what I have read elsewhere.

45 caliber  8.5#  +/-
50 caliber  8#  +/-
54 caliber  7.5#  +/-

With a medium weight sugar maple stock, weights are as follows:

.45 caliber 8.1#
.50 caliber 7.7#
.54 caliber 7.3#

Longcruise/Jim-Thank you for the info. Question: Are these weights you posted both for the average weights of the 45, 50, and 54 caliber Colonial and Woodsrunner rifles or for one or the other. Over on the Muzzleloading Forum someone posted some weights on a thread dealing with the Woodsrunner rifle and the poster had some weights he advised 'Lorie' from Kibler gave him regarding the Woodsrunner's average weights. 45 caliber=8#, 50 caliber=7.5#, and 54 caliber=7#. Another poster advised on the same thread that the Woodsrunner has a shorter barrel making it a bit lighter than the Colonial rifle.

The weights Lorie supplied previously were an estimate.  I weighed an actual .54 yesterday and I got 7.3#.  I then calculated the difference in weight of barrels for a .50 and .45, and adjusted the total weights of the guns for each caliber accordingly.  Weights will vary with wood density to some degree.

Thank you Jim. Are you indicating both models will be of the same approx weight according to calibers but vary according to wood density?

There will be some slight variation from the previously indicated weights depending on the actual piece of wood.  Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks bulljg--That's the info I was looking for, ie comparison of the average weight of "each" model (Colonial and Woodsrunner) for the three calibers. Think everyone was thinking I just wanted Woodsrunner weights. The link you provided I've never seen before on the web. Being the Woodsrunner's barrel is approx 4" shorter, knew it had to be lighter than the Colonial.

Is that 8 lbs. 6 ounces, or 8.6 pounds?

The Colonials usually run around 9#.  This varies with caliber and wood, and of course the scale you're using ;)
