Introduction and Hello from Southern IN
« on: October 19, 2022, 05:53:05 PM »
Greetings from Indiana!

I started shooting black powder in the early 80’s during high school. We lived in the Ozarks of southeast Missouri. My folks had gotten me a CVA 45 Kentucky pistol kit because my buddy was shooting BP and I wanted to get involved in it. I built and finished it myself. I really enjoyed learning how to shoot and care for that thing! I shot with some local fellas and my high school buddy for a few years. We shot various muzzle-loaders, flint and cap, pistols and long guns, a 10Ga double, and some revolvers. The older gents had no problem letting us youngsters shoot their guns. It was a lot of fun and a lot of learning.

Now I,m back into it and have another KY Pistol, some T/C rifles and a Pedersoli kit waiting to be finished.

I have seen several references to this forum on another ML forum and so I joined this one, too. I mostly just read things here, however I thought it was time I posted a hello.

Being in southern IN, you need to become acquainted with the National Muzzleloading Rifle Assn. aka NMLRA.  They are located in Friendship, IN and hold events thruout the year.  The big events are the Spring and Fall National Matches attended by vendors and gun builders from all over the USA.  As a fledgling builder you'll go nuts, spend lots of money, meet many on this forum, and also make many new friends.  Visit their website for more info.   NMLRA.org

Welcome to the forum. If you are in Southwest Indiana there are two really fine clubs. Buck Creek Muzzleloaders in Linton, and Patoka Valley Longrifles in Winslow.

Welcome from North/Central British Columbia.  We have a small river here called "Crooked River" that stays open all year long.  That's quite an accomplishment in a land where it gets to -40 C upon occasion.  We see swans on it all winter long.

There are good ML trade shows in Conner Prairie and the little town east of Effingham.  They are usually well publicized.

As you’ve likely already observed, you done landed down in amongst some of the best folks in muzzleloading, building, shooting, collecting…whatever your interest grows into this here is the place to ask about it, talk about it or show it off. You’ll find everyone here to be welcoming and friendly. Well.. except for that one feller.. :-\
