Kibler SMR kit completed w/ some specs
« on: October 23, 2022, 04:52:29 AM »
I had made a post a month or so ago about fitting the buttplate on the kibler SMR and thanks to all of the helpful advice I accomplished that task successfully.
I also had some help with the toe plate, and if your reading, thank you again!

I’ve now fired more than 50 shots through it and sights are perfectly on at 50 yds(after filing front sight).

What I tried;
 .445 hornady round balls
.015, .020 pre lubed patches from TOW
3Fg in the barrel
50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75grains

I’ve settled on .015 patch with the .445 balls
50 grains for paper, and 70 grains for hunting.

This one’s ready for the woods now!

Thanks Jerry.

Has anyone else had a “rough” experience with the SMR on the bench?
My shoulder is beat to $#*! from the top of the buttplate stabbing into my shoulder.  I know it’s supposed to be fired from the bicep area, but on the bench I couldn’t get it into the correct position.
Also I was getting some serious cheek slap on the bench as well.
My cheek is actually bruised!

When standing and shouldered correctly, in the bicep, the rifle feels fantastic, probably one of the most comfortable rifles to shoot that I have.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

Instead of sitting at the bench directly behind the rifle, making you perpendicular to the rifle, try sitting on the side of the bench.  This will turn your body parallel to the rifle.  That will allow you to place the butt at the intersection of the arm and shoulder and keep the butt from digging into your chest.  Hope that helps.

Thanks again, and that makes perfect sense!
I’m pretty much done with shooting from the bench with this rifle, but I’m sure that advice will come in handy at some point in the future.

You could also use a shoulder pad. Probably when hunting, you will be wearing a coat.

Thanks guys!

Honestly this was meant to be my beater woods rifle….but even the “plain” maple kibler kits are gorgeous.  Those first few bumps are going to be tough!

Try wearing a strap on recoil pad
