Help identifying smooth rifle
« on: October 27, 2022, 02:43:17 PM »
I would like some ideas for what school this old gun is? It is a .50 cal smooth rifle I  am restoring it for a client. There is no signature anywhere on the rifle. The lock is missing.  You can see where I have replaced some missing wood around the lock panel. The barrel was shortened at least once during it's life and it was fitted with a drum. The maple is oxidized all the way through the fore stock. I believe it originally had keys holding the stock and barrel together.  There was also a thin strip of wood between the patch box lid and the side inlays.

Opinions are expensive. Rich people rarely if ever voice their opinion.
