Hi all! Here I have a BB musket who is converted to percussion with a very BIG hammer(Ugly) do you think I will convert back to flint lock? You bet!

Hi all, and thank you guys!New pan from partlock silversolder to original lockplate and frizzen in place.Frizzen is a cast part so must be hardened.

Yes! and the percussion hammer can be used to lay carpet or hang doors

Runastav, the lock looks great, but I was wondering what you did to the barrel. I assume you welded it up where the nipple was, did I miss that part?

Hi all! FALout, yes a plug threaded in and then my buddy super TIG welder Alf J do the welding and it will be proof tested!Someone has done a ugly welding to the trigger, I reamake it. There is no triggerplate on this model, and a small square nut is inletted in front of the trigger for the tang screw.

Hi all! and thank you guys! Done, there is no entry pipe , nosecap on this model. And the ramrod brake springs are inside front and midle ramrodpipes.

Nice work on this. I respect it is your choice to re convert but I am always sorry to see part of an old gun’s history deleted. I chose not to reconvert my Nock Baker Rifle, seeing the percussioning as part of it’s history. But each to their own.

I can easily be proved wrong by the Bess and stamps cognoscenti but to me it looks like a commercial musket and, by the style of percussioning and the ramrod, the work seems to have been done in continental Europe. However, I suspect that the lock and trigger never began life on this gun.

My old trade ‘Bess’ musket was similarly Sea Service-ish in stock style bar not being percussioned, but awfully well eroded around the touch hole. I dare say I will be corrected. FWIW mine was painted black which was not uncommon for trade ones. A leading expert on Ordnance muskets gave me a very sharp virtual rap over the knuckles for passingly calling it a Bess. Deservedly so. Mine was the best musket I have ever owned for a fit to me. Mounting so automatically it could have been made just for me by one of the finest gunmakers and not in some grubby Birmingham back street tenement down to the lowest price. Hopefully yours will be as kind to you.

I look forward to seeing the end result. The workmanship is well done.

Hi yulzari and thank you!First, its my own musket and I am a collektor and shooter. And I agry with you is the gun rear and a mint condisjon we leav it so ;)This musket is not mint at all, and maby you right about the lock who knows! I live in the belive its a Brown Bess like the photo from The Rifle Shoppe ,Inc. catalog. And photo show barrelmarking the barrel is 37"
