For hunting, I carry my horn just above the bag for easier access to the bag contents.  The bag is placed so I can pin it with my elbow.  My hunting rig has a long thong on the back and front strap so I can tie it off to my waist. Tying it off helps with stalking in open country when you may have to belly crawl to get close enough for a shot.  It also helps if you are trying to close distance on far off game to keep things from flapping and flying out.  When stand hunting I try to arrange things so they won't clack in my range of motion.

I shoot right-handed, and wear my shooting bag on my left side, setting just below my elbow. It stays out of the way there. This one is for my Fusil. My rifle bag also wears on the left and has my patch knife and short starter in sheaths on the strap.
