Got it used, I just liked the way it looked, and a little bit better quality build than say,  a traditions.
Until I get my other rifle built this is going to be my hunting rig.
You’re probably right on the dry firing aspect, because also the lock plate has a area where the hammer has been hitting it. This will not happen with it assembled in the rifle. Unless you’re missing the nipple, or fired the lock while outside of the stock.

Firing it without a nipple might break the panel below the lock plate.
