Here’s a better quality picture of the lock mortise guys:
Notice the chipped out area in front of the trigger hole and the crack in the wood along the barrel. I hope this is self limiting damage? Should I be concerned about this?

Yeah I know. Just curious if it’s just going to get worse or if it should be shootable. I know it’s not a high dollar custom half stock Ohio, but I can’t pull one of those out of my rump on a whim.

I would use this a a learning tool. If you can still use it as a hunting tool consider the warts as honest wear. I just bought a gun with explicit instructions that there be chips blown out of the stock. You have a rifle coming from this fellow.
