Jaeger rifle kit - barrel decorations
« on: January 09, 2023, 10:18:26 AM »
For my jaeger rifle build I wanted to have some barrel decorations.
I decided to do some filing work and a gold wire inlay at the muzzle and some filing work at the breech. I crowned the muzzle as well following the rifling.
Again just simple grooves but it adds a lot I think.

Are you going to remove the writting on the barrel?  What kit is that?
Thanks

Unfortunately not.
In Germany, every barrel has to be marked at least with offical proof marks, a serial number, caliber, manufacturer and year of build. This could be done hidden.
But I want to shot the gun in competitions too. Prior to a competition there will be a gun check by a range officer and if he wants to see the proper markings and I have to take the barrel out of the stock ... no, won't do that.
The kit is from a german dealer with Rice barrel and Davis lock. Maybe he imported it from Track of the Wolf.

Interesting muzzle filing design, indeed. The gold inlay looks good. How does it shoot?

Thank you.
I haven't shot it jet. The barrel needs an official proof and it takes some time to get an appointment at the proof house.
I hope in one month everyting will be fine.

Thanks for that information.  I suppose it could always be removed in the future if who ever had it wanted to?  Your inlay work looks fine?
I was not aware you are in Germany.
Take care
