Pictures of my assembled Kibler Woodsrunner.
« on: January 13, 2023, 11:15:39 PM »
I finally got my Woodsrunner fully assembled. This is .54 caliber and fancy maple. This gun is nicely proportioned, feels slim in the hand and points great!

Beautiful! I'm waiting for the email that says it's my turn to await delivery. Think I'll tie balloons to the mailbox and hand out cigars.

Nicely done, and I really like the color on the wood. Care to share how you did the wood finish?

Nicely done, and I really like the color on the wood. Care to share how you did the wood finish?

Three applications of aqua fortis following each with a heat blush. Then I used maroon scotch brite with Tried and Tru oil. The wrist has a lot of open grain and some curl so it got really dark, darker than I wanted in fact. The left side of the lower wrist did not get as dark so I used an oil based stain in spots to even the color out. Finished with more Tried and True and finally a home made beeswax, linseed and turpentine wax. The wax will be reapplied as needed.

Here are a couple of pictures after the blushed aqua fortis before the oil.

Yes, Kibler makes a great looking rifle. And it handles as good as it looks. What is even more impressive is how precise the machining and fit is! His new CNC machine does an amazing job on the stock.

Okay, 3 applications of aqua fortis. I think the color is really nice and thanks for the info on the finish.

Nice job on your rifle. I have a favor to ask; could you show a very close picture of how the patch box spring button meshes with the butt plate? Thank you     JZ

A job well done on that beauty! Mine looks like it came from the same log as yours. I prefer the wide stripes in the wood. I used some tannic acid then the aqua fortis and it came out pretty dark, which is I wanted. Looking forward to hearing how it shoots for you. They shoulder and point with ease.
