A small horn holding enough powder for a one day hunt or just a few shots.

It’s one of those phrases that are not self-evident to everyone. “Bag mold” is another. Is it when your shooting bag gets moldy? Is it a form used to make ball bags? Nope, none of the above. I’m sure in the day it was called a bullet mold.

Modern term to distinguish smaller capacity horns from 3 day horns, week horns, extended campaign horns and the massive long hunt horns.

For my .62 Jaeger I carry a flat horn in my bag that holds enough powder for 8-9 shots. For my .72 English Sporting rifle I carry a horn that holds enough for 6-7 shots. For my 45 I have a little round banjo bag horn that holds enough powder for 20 shots or so.
