This came in the mail Friday. My second book in the Longrifle series. I am studying carving patterns on southern long rifles having wooden patch boxes. I hope to improve my carving and be able to incorporate a simple but PC pattern on my next build.

One thing you will notice is that not all builders were masters at carving and engraving.

You're right. That was one thing very obvious. I also realize that age has affected the appearance too. I understand your post and greatly appreciate it.
