The majority of comments seem to be about how nice the carving is,clean in other words....
Well Sir,IF I may complain the ONLY complaint I could muster up is that it does not belong to me-doesn't mean I do not appreciate FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP,just means I am not able to lay out the cash.

Thanks for the kind words guys!  I keep looking in the mirror to make sure my head isn't enlarging. :)  In all honesty, I'm happy with some things about this gun, but think there is room for improvement.  Thant's what this gun building is about for me.  I just want to keep learning and getting better.  Anyways, here are a few more pictures as requested.  Like I said before, if you have any questions just ask.

very nice rifle Jim.
I feel lucky that I was able to spend about 15 minutes really looking it over during the log cabin fair.
This rifle is really very nice. I am not sure pictures really do it justice.
Keep up the good work.
I am really glad you posted the pictures.

So what do you  guys like?  Clean contemporary work, like Jim's excellent  piece here or E.K. aged work. Make up your minds. HA, HA. Seems everyone is confused.

You have developed a unique and wonderful style this is captivating.  Thanks for sharing.

How do you achieve the warm finish on the brass parts?  They have a very desireable lustre.

Thanks Doug!  Glad you like it.  Thanks to everyone else again as well!  About the brass...   It's just filed and polished out.  Probably polished to 400 grit or so.  I then likely went over it wtih som gray scotchbrite or maybe some fine steel wool with some rottenstone.  I then used a product called "Brass Darkening Solution" from Historic Houseparts to darken some of the recesses.  I think I also used some heat from a torch to further darken it a touch.  Hope this helps!  Any more questions just ask.

I know I like this gun a lot:

I am making coffee this morning, kind of daydreaming, and I am remembering the tang carving photo and  the thimble area on this gun. This daydream time is usually taken up with thoughts of my girlfriend.

That's how I know this is a good gun.  :D

Everyone has said how beautiful it is already! Let me put it this way:

You could hang it on the wall below a Rembrandt...and no one would notice the dumb old painting!

And I have to add....WOW!!!
