Tom Currie: Glad you recognized what the guard started out as. I worked it over pretty good, and was fairly happy with how it turned out. Something a little different I guess.
Flinter: Not sure how each rifle will turn out, but you can be sure I will give each my all!
Kermit: Thanks for the questions. The blank was pretty much slab sawn. It came from Dick Miller and was very hard. For me the harder the better when it comes to trying to execute detailed carving. Your right about the box lid. It is burl maple. Thought it would be something different. I've subdued it quite a bit with the finish to keep it from being too dramatic though.
