Orininal entry pipe study

I have never been able to not go through the various random parts boxes at the gunshows. I found this little treasure in such a box. I was struck by the way the pipe was modified by the smith. It may have been modified from its original configuration and was reused a second time around with the new stud for use of a screw for retention then reused again by another that didnt believe in screws and drilled through the stud. I also point out the use of a tapered pin used to retain the entry pipe. The brass is .040 at the thickest portion. You can see the contrours of the shaping of the extention by use of a mandrel that had flats on it for the forming. The same way Dave Rase presented to us at the Oregon gunmakers fair.
