New bag completed.
« on: February 19, 2023, 04:54:55 AM »
just finished up this 9"x8" 19th century bag. Made from 2/3oz leather with a 1.5" gusset with turned and welted body and bound edges on the lid and inner edge.  ¾" wide straps with a plain brass buckle. the body and lid shape was initially cut out by a friend. I finished the design and added bindings, gusset, and straps. I think it turned out pretty nice.  (horn is a bench copy by Pete Hutton of a 4th gen York County horn I found at a NH auction.)

On a more refined bag like this, stitching can make or break you.  Your stitching is very nice and straight.  The overall appearance and form is also very pleasing.  Nice job!

What more can be said that has not already been said -- I LIKE IT! Is that veg tan 2-3 oz cow leather or some other hide? Looks like a dream to work with and the color is spot on. 8) ;)

I think it looks very nice, too.
