Brown Bess wreck

Hi all! Nowdays Im working most on cartridges guns long and short, but sometimes on this BB wreck I picked up. My ide with it is make a carbine out of it with 31" barrel. So new wood is adding here and there ;)

Very good work , and look forward to seeing more.
I just picked up a Brown Bess barrel, cut down an inch if I remember right.   Condition looks very like yours!

LilysDad, thank you for your worry but I always inspekt the breachplug treads and in this one they are good! On this one I dont have welded a hole for perc pistong because the bolster was treaded in a drilled flash hole ;)

It simply appeared to be in very poor condition (pitting and such). And if the restore was merely cosmetic . . .

Hi all and thank you guys!The flash pan was not total grind avay so I could silversolder a new steel and finish the pan ;)New made frizzen spring, Flint Cock and Frizzen from Peter Dyson!

Hi all!
Its a big job making this sideplates, but i think it turned out well ;)I like to use a taper reamer for touch hole after Jack Brooks model!

Lovely work Runar!
I do like the way you are not afraid to tackle an antique and set it right!
Some feel a real "reverence" for an old arm and worry about touching it.
You just roll your sleeves up an get at it.
I like that!
I once fixed a Brown Bess wit the stock in 9 major pieces, and lots of bits!
Nightmare but got it fixed.
