Butt trap Bayonet

I am building an "Officers" musket and I added a butt trap to hold a small bayonet. I already have the "door" made and the bayonet made. I am now contemplating a couple of different latch mechanisms. Does anyone have pics of an original, or one copied from an original? THNX,,,LK

Pretty sure one of the old rifle shoppe catalogs showed the butt plate/door assembly  and corresponding bayonet that fit through it.

Nifty. I have all the castings for that in a parts box somewhere. Except for the bayonet, which I gave to Getz so he could make a barrel for it. That's been some decades ago now, I doubt I'll ever see that again.

Hi Ed,
I started on a similar project some years ago until I learned from Joe Puleo that no officer's fusil had those bayonets.  They were a sporting gun feature not a military one.  As Joe put it, the rank and file would have laughed an officer from the field if he showed up with a gun with such a short bayonet.  It would have been useless in battle.
