I'm looking for a pattern for a child sized fowler or rifle pattern. If any could help it would be appreciated. Thanks....Dan

I made one 30 years ago for my crazy ex wife's kid. I used a 41 inch 20 guage barrel and an 11 inch pull. Standard drop at the heel and toe. Fit him perfect. He was hitting milk jugs at 25 yards out in the first session. I was loading about 40 grains of powder in it so it didn't beat the tar out of him. He was about nine at the time and sorta small for his age.

wait, he may have been 13. I made it for his birthday and then she skeedaddled. I found somebody carrying that gun around for sale at friendship three months later. Such is life.

I made one about thirty years ago also. My son was seven, so the gun was built on a much reduced scale. It actually was a trade gun instead of a fowler. It was .410 gauge and the barrel was about 20 inches long. since it was a trade gun I was able to make all of the hardware. The barrel was a heavy round shotgun barrel I found. I hand filed octagon flats, and wedding bands into it. I got the pattern from a paperback tradegun book that had some full sized patterns also. I still have that gun somewhere out in the shop.

Hi Dan,

Are you looking for a pre carve stock or a stock profile? I have a small Austrian Fowler with a trigger pull around 12 inches that could be used to create a profile.

I've got these two that, jez I can't remember his name, carves a lot of war clubs...Fred Miller I think copied for me. The finished gun has an 11" pull. I'll send you a tracing if you want it.

IIRC, Mike Lea had a kit for a child size smooth bore based on a trade gun design.
That was quite a few years ago. Don’t have any idea if he still has any for sale, and don’t know his contact info.

I bought five full-scale drawings, I went with the drawings to a print shop.
They made it a pdf for me, it is also possible to print another scale that you think is best for you.

It was 2020 and at the height of the COVID Wars. We were required to wear masks at the show. Not my choice, that’s for sure…

Gary is correct. That scaled down Lexington Rifle was made by Marvin Berry of Indiana for his granddaughter Madelynn. It’s not a fowler, but he could probably send you a tracing of the stock profile. He did the build from a blank. PM me if you want his number.

Here’s a little Lehigh I built for my grandson several years ago. Just a scaled down version of a Rupp.
Be careful how small you go. Grandson is now 6’3”, and this gun looks like a toy.
