Robbins lock ?

I bought a Robbins lock for another plains rifle build.
There is a tiny screw in the back of the tumbler, what does is it do?

I also have a Robbins flintlock; the screw is not on that tumbler.


By the by, this is a very nice lock.

If it’s in the same position as was the one on some of Doc Hadaway locks, it was to serve as an adjustable stop.

POSSIBLY the screw can determine the depth of engagement of the sear at full cock to regulate the trigger pull or make it possible to use a set trigger.

I stand corrected.  I believe it was controlling the depth of engagement that was the function of the similar screw on the Haddaway lock also.
