Little Buffler' box.
« on: March 22, 2023, 07:51:34 AM »
Here is a little Buffler' box....

The buffalo image was inspired by one on a old Hawken rifle box I found in the internet.  Box came from the Upper Missouri Trading Company in Nebraska.

Sweet, Curtis!  Definitely appropriate, and “fits” that style rifle very well.    Best,

Nice work!
I believe this buffalo on the original piece is fashioned after George Caitlin's painting from 1846:

Greetings Curtis,
Nice Box.  My question or observation is, are you putting the Buffler before the Gun?  LOL      Hank

Thanks for the nice comments gentlemen, oh, and TOF!  ;)  Also thanks for the Caitlin painting KRNL, I saved that in a file for future reference.  Looks like you are probably right on that original box.

Greetings Curtis,

Hank, I really hope to put a buffler in front of the gun one of these days!!!!

I think the great Louie Parker madd a terrific re-creation of that specific patchbox. Bob Browner, as well, with his own personality shining through. You’re in great company, Curtis.
