I am guessing that they are made in the Mould and Gun Shop in Southern Ohio.Log Cabin bought the name which is a well known and long time identifier here in the Lower 48 and besides the name there were and still are a wide variety of moulds for the parts needed to make a lock.I have no idea as to who does the heat treating and assembly on finished castings.

I read that the Log Cabin Shop has maintained the Davis relationship re Larry Zorn,
so I expect the castings are still coming from the Mold and Gun Shop.  I don't know who's assembling the locks, but you could simply ask the L.C.Shop

I'm pretty sure Zornes is doing the assembly.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Some but not all. The percussion locks and a few other flintlocks are assembled elsewhere

According to Log Cabin they are overhauling the whole Davis issue. They are working on all of it.

I would think a number of those moulds would have a lot of "mileage"on them and renewal is the only optio.

I spoke with Log Cabin and they are aware that finishing issues are a problem. I think they'll get it sorted out.
