GETTING OLD AND LAZY

 LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO AND GETTING LAZY I DECIDED TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON A KIBLER MOUNTAIN RIFLE.I  HEAR THEIR A WORK OF ART AND 99 PERCENT DONE AND RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. I'M TIRED OF BLOODY FINGERS FROM CHISELING AND RASPING BLANKS. I HOPE I'LL BE HAPPY WITH IT.

Yip,

I just received one of Jim's Colonial kits for the NMLRA seminar at WKU and it is a gem.  I also ordered one of his Quaker stocks to practice carving, and I'm tempted to make a half-stock out of it.  The woodwork is very precise.  And the lock sparks like the Fourth of July.  You will not be disappointed.

Terry,
You will love your Kibler SMR. I got mine a few years ago when he was still using the Chambers Late Ketland lock but it has been great and a pleasure to carry. Have never weighed mine but not bad for us older, smarter and more experienced guys if you know what I mean! Enjoy yours as Jim has made some great improvements since first offering his SMRs for sale.

I just put one together for a friend. It took maybe 6 hours. You'll spend a lot more time sanding, finishing the wood and polishing/browning metal than you will assembling it.

You’ve proven you can build a nice gun from blank. No harm in having fun with a quality kit gun. It also depends on what you enjoy doing. This is a hobby after all (for most of us). I’ve done one of each of the Kiblers at this point and love them all.

  Nothing wrong with being old and lazy..!  You earned it,  so why not have some fun without hours pushing a wood rasp and such...

I know the feeling.  It's going to be hard for me to build guns by hand again.  Maybe if it's something that's really interesting...

  Jim your the most prolific gun maker today...You just thought of a better
 and  quicker way to do it....!  If they had this technology back then. You can bet they would of used it...
