Picketball Mold
« on: April 09, 2023, 06:50:35 PM »
Is there anyone out there that makes picketball molds? I have the perfect barrel lined up for a Peter Reinhard build but need the mold to cast the picketball for it. Thank you.

I don not know of any mould makers who make picket bullets.
Perhaps should google Custom Bullet Mould Makers and check 'em out.

Thank you, Mike, I contacted Steve and he was very friendly. I asked him if he could make me a picket ball mold, some people call if a picket bullet, and he asked me if I meant a pritchett mold? Well, I wasn't sure so I told him I'd have to get back with him and he assured me he could make anything I needed. Now I just have to figure out what I need.

The picket bullet is on the right in this photo and next to it is the belted picket.

You mean on the left? Looks like a slightly wonky round ball on the right on my monitor.
Seems to me, some picket bullets had a rounded base.

The first and second on the left look like Pickett "balls" and the third looks like a 45ACP and the last one is obviously a BALL.
My Whitmore had a picket mould but it worked well with round balls.IF properly loaded with a special starter that starts that
"ball" straight AND a close fitting loading rod with a coned end to hold it straight and allow no tipping. They are a pain in the
fanny and were not around long before being replaced by bullets with straight sides.
