Is this plain horn antique?
« on: April 12, 2023, 11:29:06 PM »
Hi,
A guy in another state asked about this horn he found among his deceased dad's possessions, had it at least 35 years he said.  Just using what I've learned here the past couple years, and a general knowledge of antiques and wear patterns, I told him it is probably an 19th century horn.  But another guy said "it's from the 1970s buckskinner craze".  I don't agree.  What do yall think?

Home made in the 1800s is my guess.

Appears to my eye to be a farm/backwoods made horn. Certainly in the mid 1800s. I agree with Rich on this. I have several that are quite similar. Thank you fo bringing it in to be seen here.

Thanks, backwoods better than India!  I bought it from the guy, looks primitive, like me!
