It will get filed down. A trip to Kenya would be fun and a 4 bore would certainly be the gun for charging elephants. Good luck with the surgery.

Bill,, on that buttplate, where the Acraglass was so runny, especially on the vertical surfaces, would it have benefitted you to mix a wee bit of the floxx (white powdery stuff) in with the liquid?  Might have assisted in retaining the liquid, and thus less voids between the wood and the metal?

You are doing a fine job on everything.  Admire your efforts to make the build as accurately as possible.

That chunk of wood is sure pretty, happy to see you are adding to the strength as much as possible.  Ain't simple, throwing a 4-ox chunk of lead out, and being able to take down the target.

Maybe I'll bring you a live baby elephant or rhino to be your pet!  3 GALLONS of milk a few times a day, then 250-400 lb of good hay and grass a day for 65 years!

Mixing some of that stuff in probably would have helped. Oh well. Too late now.

Somehow it costs more to feed our little 12 pound dog than it does to feed me. We don't need an elephant!

For those of you who are contemplating your first build, but are hesitant to start because of making an error, please listen to Bill's first minute or two of Bill's opening on this video.

I doubt that any of are error-free on our first build, or indeed, on our 20th!  But it's an effective means of learning!  Show me anyone who has not erred in life, I'll show you someone that has not lived, only existed!

Old saying, "To err is human."

The way to improve is what you do when you make a mistake - you have yourself and many hundred friends on here who have made the same mistake and  learned how to overcome it.

I believe even Mike Brooks once made a mistake - and learned from it.

It's  only wood and metal - both can be readily made right.

I keep hearing people talk about how afraid they are. It is sickening how many people let fear rule their lives and keep them from doing what they want to do. Especially with gun building. Its just metal and wood! its not going to hurt you.

Looking good, Bill.

Hoping to be able to move my neck by next week.  Found some wood to make shipping boxes with, will be one of my first "chores"!
