Alaskan Awful knife
« on: April 29, 2023, 12:31:28 AM »
;) ;)... John Walker lives in Kodiak Alaska, and runs a mission up there doing good things for the locals,.. he is descended from the Carper family of gunsmiths of West bygod Virginia,.. part of the way he helps fund his mission is by fancy forge-work,.. calls his knives "ALASKAN AWFULS",... but ain't nothing awful about them,.. I have one of his early patch knives,.. great knife,.. anyway,...he and daughter, Jenna  Walker, made a knife for me and brought it to the  Knoxville show,.. the wonderous thing is, they know I mostly wear shoulder britches, and don't use a belt, so they figured out a way to fasten the scabbard to the side button,... !!! .. clever thinking,... !!!...  BUT the other thing that is so special is how Jenna,(who has studied engraving with Hershel House) personalized the silver pommel cap with my fiddle,.. !!!  .. great folks,.. Great friends,.. beautiful work.... !!!

That's fantastic. Great knife, love the fiddle and a good job on the sheath. I made a couple that use a buttonhole for use with bib-overalls like that, but I like the way they mounted that one to make the rode height adjustable.
Very nice, thank you for sharing.
Do they have a website?

Dana,
You probably could have hidden the knife and sheath in your Whiskers :)

Did you have that one when I stopped by your table? Must have had it hid under the table on Friday. I came back looking for you before I left but you never showed up before I had to go.

Unusual and neat. I like the blade and sheath.
