The next one finished
« on: November 29, 2009, 12:24:44 AM »

It's been a while but, I have another one finished. In order of parts acquired. The barrel is Getz oct. to round, 44 5/8" and bored to .55. As John said "choked for round ball", I think that puts the choke on the outside. Thanks John.

Lock is Chambers Virginia, thanks Jim.

All furniture is iron and forged, beat and filed in my shop. I did buy the screws.

Wood is a piece that was dated 72 and said House written on the side. A few knot holes and wavy things from stem to stern.

The sights are not finished yet but it has no problem with the 18" round plate 110 yards from the back door of the shop.

All comments welcome.        Bruce Everhart

That's a very nice rifle. I really like the wood, metal and fit, especially the lock panel.      Regards, Lon

Very nice.  Thanks for sharing.  What is the load that you are using on the 18-inch plate at 110-yards?

Very nice rifle Bruce. Well worth the wait. Have you heard anything from Jim Turpin? He is recovering from a heart attack and doing well per my last e-mail from him. Joey.

Thank you all for the kind words.

gibster, 70 to 75 grs. old FF. It really smacks the snot out of the plate. The best I've got out of it so far is a 5 shot string 13" at the widest point. the sight needs filed more, it's about 12" high. Not bad for a smooth bore.

Joey, how are you? I have not talked to Jim, he requested people not call him. I expect to hear from in the next few days via email.
