Back action lock heavy trigger pull
« on: June 17, 2023, 07:21:53 PM »
Any suggestions on how to lighten up the trigger pull on a single trigger rifle with a back action lock?

Trigger placement on the sear can affect the weight of trigger pull and too heavy a sear spring can also cause problems. Food for thought.  :-\

A bone dry mechanism or a too deep full cock and a stiff mainspring can also contribute to this  condition.

It's a lock from a percussion carbine loaded from the wrong end. I probably shouldn't have broached the subject here.

If it wasn't for the muzzle loader the others could/would  not have been needed.

I think you could post a picture of the inside close-up of the lock.  I suspect that the full cock notch is filed a little too deep and perhaps at an angle that is conducive to heavy pull.  Does the lock have a detent?
