Thanks for the "heads-up" for me. I did see the thread and contacted the poster. He is a direct descendant of Stark Tansel [second son of Francis Tansel] who carved horns in Kentucky and Indiana. I enjoy these contacts by Tansel family members, since at times they can provide new details on the early Tansels. The poster knows a Tansel descendant who is doing genealogical research into the family, so perhaps I will learn something new... although I have researched just about every available record here in the United States. But sometimes descendants have new tidbits of family lore that has been passed down in the family. Like most Tansel descendants, their hope is often to find, or acquire, a Tansel horn by their relative to repatriate with their line of the family. In this case, as I told the poster, Stark signed the fewest horns of all the carvers with only two known, signed horns to-date, and perhaps another one or two lurking out there somewhere, so it will be a tough search.
