New laced bag

well, the bag is done. this bag was inspired by the McGlamery bag from Rutherford County NC. in case you hadn't picked up on it yet, I have a fondness foe that particular bag. (I have been working towards a bench copy as my skill and understanding of leather work has improved. I still have a ways to go, but im loving the journey.)
I'll pick up a woven strap for it at Kempton next month then add horn straps and a powder horn, but for now, I'm happy with it. 3/4oz and 2/3oz leather for the bag and fringe. the lacing is cowhide (some commercial calfskin, some hand cut) ecō Flo dyes and conditioned with Ray Holes leather conditioner.

Very nicely done. I think this bag is also referenced in Grant’s book if I’m not mistaken. Always thought this style would go good with an SMR type ML

Nice looking, what kind of strap are you thinking about?
Thanks, Tim

the original has a wonderful tri color, with vertical stripes woven strap. id like to keep wit similar with a woven strap. Pam Hutton makes a variation of the original as well as some other nicely woven straps. I'll also check out Kerry M. (of horn and fiber) who does some amazing straps as well.

A piece of webbing like this with leather ends and a buckle at one end may look good with it.
