Rococo Jaeger completed
«

This Jaeger just left for its new home. I had a splendid walnut blank form my source in Armenia that was a bit short. I had Charles Burton make up a light weight 60 cal barrel 26 inches long to fit the blank length. The steel mounts are the first set used from molds I made up last season. They are based on an unsigned Jaeger, likely from Thuringia. The lock is one of Chris Laubach's, lightly engraved. Triggers are the CNC made for me by Alaska Arms. The relief carving is an interpretation of that on the original I copied the mounts from. This was a project that I really enjoyed.

Ron, you must be tickled with this rifle! I admire how well you have carved the ground to an even plain around the relief carving, and filled the pores of the walnut without diminishing the relief effect of the carving. Just splendid work. Thanks for showing it off here.

Beautifully executed piece on a beautiful piece of wood. I love the layered carving behind the cheek.
