ALR members in the Norfolk VA. area
« on: December 03, 2009, 07:19:43 PM »
I will be attending a conference in Norfolk the next couple of weeks.  If there are any ALR members in the local vicinity that would be interested in getting together for a little visiting and or show and tell I would like to impose.  I wll have my evenings, a Saturday afternoon and Sunday available.  To keep myself occupied I usually bring a shooting bag to sew up in my motel room and some horn pieces to practice my scrimshaw.

David,
I'm in Williamsburg, which is about an hour from the Naval Base (except when the tunnel gets jammed).  If you have not visited Colonial Williamsburg, it is worth a trip.  The Gun Shop has been moved and combined with the Getty foundry, but there is still plenty to see.
You are welcome to call me 757 221 0284.

Thanks for the replys guys.  I appreciate the offers especially since this trip is right around the busy holidays.  Iwill make it a point to get a hold of you early.
The good old Hampton Roads tunnel.  Most of the time I was stuck in traffic going south, not north.  Been to Williamsburg every time I have been to Norfolk.  Have not been since they moved the gunshop.  My favorite Williamsburg place is the Wallace Dewitte Gallery.

David,
I don't live in Norfolk but a friend of mine is normally involved in an Revolutionary War re-enactment of the battle of Great Bridge this Saturday and Sunday.

Here are links to information about the battle and the event:

My friend usually has a Rev War rifle display at this event but he is out of state this year. He said they usually have other Rev War items on display and also several speakers. Of course the weather forecast for our Richmond area is rain, sleet and snow for Saturday but I think Sunday is to be fairly decent.
