Pipe Hawk

This is a pipe tomahawk I just finished up to take to the CLA show - my first 'Hawk!  The head is a casting of an original dug up on the Leeper farm in KY. 

The inlays in the head are 18k gold and 999 fine silver. Coin silver and brass inlays on the haft, wire inlay is silver and brass though it is hard to tell the difference in the photos, I took them in a hurry.  Head is rust browned.  Engraving on the head was done with hammer and chisel.

I have a table at the CLA show this year, some come on by and say hello!

Jrb, here is the info I got about the original tomahawk head:  "The relic tomahawk dating from the 1770's was plowed up near the site of McFadins's Station (1785), which stood along the Cumberland Trace near Barren River just outside of Bowling Green Kentucky."  The head measures about 7-3/8" long.

Your tomahawk is beautiful!!! Fine work Sir. The original interest me as it’s not that far away from where my people settled around 1794 when they came from Virginia…. right smack dab in the middle of what is now Mammoth Cave Nat. Park.
