Came across this article in my reading this morning. Little nuances about its pieces and parts… thought maybe some of you folks here would enjoy the article.

Looks like a gun built with parts from a French fusil (guard, side plate, buttplate). Certainly a common thing in New England but so far as we know not restricted to there.

You can add the barrel as well, I think. Squared breech immediately fading to round. Every French musket I have measured was .72. .03 of wear at the muzzle with a steel rammer is not out of line. Appears to be a restock of one French musket using all of its parts.
