What Kind Of Powder Container For A Jaeger?
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:17:16 AM »
Over on Ron's post of the Deer Leg bag, Taylor, I think it was mentioned that it would go well with a Jaeger. What kind of horn/powder container would have gone with it or a Jaeger?

 Thanks, Tim C

How about a flat horn, or an elk antler flask- one with a plug in each of two short branch stubs?

I believe that it depends on who owns the Jaeger rife and where it is being used.  If in Europe then look for the elk antler powder container, but if it is owned and used by someone in the thirteen colonies then a time period cow horn powder horn might very well be considered.

Here's a set that I made couple years back for one of my Deer Leg Yaeger bags. This was for one with deer leg bag bottom and carved lid. A smaller version of the one I made shown on the left as my avatar.

Germans were also fond of the flattened horn, with some carving on throat, and relief carved horns.  The other examples posted here would go great as well.
