Haversack/Shooting Bag

FINALLY got to putting the finishing touches on what once was a haversack I used for living history events during the 150th Civil War. What was once a fairly worn original carpet bag, turned into a useable haversack used for “Cornfed” impression. Now that the “war is over”, it’s now repurposed as a hunting bag. The flap used to close the bag is original oilcloth stripped from an 1850’s barbers chair.

That's quite interesting! Many things were repurposed after the Great Rebellion out of necessity

Yes, it’s a very interesting bag. Should hold everything you need.

Great fabric choices. Beautiful stuff with tons of character. Great eye and I’m glad you repurposed it like that.

THANK YOU so much for the kind replies and taking time to do so.
I have others (not quite like this one plus material) and if I have time, I might make more.
Thank you once again!
Humbly yours,
James

That is really neat (I like the little locking clasp on the bag). Wouldn't mind having that in my collection. Just looking at it tells a whole host of stories and imaginative depictions
