DRU HEDGECOCK

Is anyone familiar with rifles built by Dru Hedgecock? I admire the two examples I have seen and would like to see more of his work.

Thanks

I remember buying longrifle parts from Dru. He was especially well-known for his triggers. I believe he was from the region around Winston-Salem, NC. My late business partner, Lewis B. Sanchez, who also built longrifles in Fayetteville at our gun shop, always spoke highly of him.

Dru was among a colony of artistic gunstockers in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro region to include Bobby Denton, the late Frank Burton, the late Bob Hunt, the late John Bivins, and Martin O’Conner back in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s.

I regret I never saw any of his work or had the opportunity to photograph any of his art.

I didn’t know Dru for his gum making skills. I knew Dru for his hardware. His triggers were well sought after for their reliability. Jerry

Dru showed me a swivel breech he had made. John Bivins, per Dru, asked him to let him have the rifle for awhile. When he brought it back to Dru, John had engraved it for him. Absolutely beautiful gun and a very nice handling rifle. Sorry no photos.
