Some additional shots of carving I’ve been working on.  Started out as cnc incised carving.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Looks like the cnc and your hand carving complement each other really well. Good Job!

That’s a nice chance to let a builder to start or improve their carving skills.

I love how the cnc incised carving is pretty much the most perfectly "drawn" pattern, (i can not draw to save my life) but it is more than "drawn"...it has a "depth" that is precision.... a beginner that is scared to mess up can finish "as is".
But the slightly mid level kit builder can add relief and make it come to life as much as desired.
Excellent!....i personally may have NEVER attempted to "carve" a rifle or Fowler, now i am tempted more than i ever thought possible, thank you Mr. Kibler

That is stunning.  It is very elegant and complicated.

When I first saw the machine incised carving I was thinking about adding relief.  I wonder if a simplified incised pattern could be supplied?  Maybe to be used as a paint by numbers equivalent  carving kit?   Or maybe  a dedicated practice kit with the lay out done.  It would be a confidence builder for many.

I'll be doing a fairly conservative relief carved version in time.  It will nothing like this carving.  I could do a simple incised version as well.  We'll see...  Problem with doing this with the intention of the customer relieving it is that the vast majority don't have the skills for such work.
