AZ Squirrel opening morning
« on: September 30, 2023, 04:27:41 PM »
I got to go out yesterday morning . where I live there are two types of tree squirrels, Aberts and Chikaries. The Aberts are big squirrels. The other ones are small and not worth shooting.
I have hunted squirrels in the Midwest and the squirrel densities are very high.
In Arizona you are going to do a lot of walking.
Anyway the morning started breezy but not too bad. The wind picked up afternoon, with 30mph gusts. I managed to get three. I was ouwitted by a couple of the rodents, humbling.
Had a great time.

Nice! Those Aberts look like a weak cross between a fox squirrel and a grey.
Huge ears too.

Daryl all of those were young squirrels, evidently, we had a good crop this Spring. One of the ones that eluded me was a big mature one. He didn't get that way by being stupid.

This is what a mature on looks like.
