Need opinion on Rice's Beck Barrel

I'm in the early stages of planning a Berk's Co. rifle from a blank.   I'm thinking of using one of Rice's 42" J.P. Beck barrels in 54 caliber.   Anyone have any experience with this barrel?   Would it be inappropriate for a Berk's Co. rifle?
