Ozark Mtn Arms hawken

I recently won an Ozark Mtn Arms Hawken in an online auction.  The rifle was advertised as being a .50.  I usually prefer .54 and up in a hawken but bid anyway. It’s actually a Getz-barreled .62 cal! Guess that worked out.  Rarely does auction misinformation work out in my favor, but I’ll take this one.

That's a beautiful rifle. Being a Getz barrel, I assume it's tapered? I'm curious the specs on it - length, weight, etc.

I agree, would not want to darken that grain, then it would look like so many other rifles.

Looks like a very nice rifle - I do like the finish Something I don't see everyday . Altering - Altered firearms has  never appealed to me over the years , this is subjective just my opinion .

That rifle has a fair amount of curl in all that wood.

Nice find. I had an Ozark Hawken ten years ago,I may have got it from gbr.It too had a great stock,and original near mint condition.
Finish works for me,too.

This auction had three Ozark Arms rifles, including a .54 flinter. Got too rich for me. Also was a GRRW flintlock Hawken.  I was watching to bid and actually nodded off. It was several lots gone when I woke up. I'm going to build myself a Bum Chair to sit in when watching auctions.

Thanks everyone. I’ll definitely leave it as it is. I’m excited to add it to my contemporary Hawken collection that I feel blessed to have. I was really happy with the hammer price, even happier when I learned about the barrel!

I picked up a beautiful Ozark Mnt 54. early this year. He gave me all of the original paperwork and catalog. He ordered it and had it built in house, then drove down in 1982 and picked it up along with a new possibles bag, leather rifle case and other items from the shop that day which he gave it all to me with the purchase. Heres a some pics.
