Mike Gahagan New England Fowler

Today the pony express brought me a New England Fowler made by Mike Gahagan. I thought I would share some pictures and information. The fowler has a stock from Nathan at Harrison Gunstocks. It is a hard curly stump cut piece of maple. The lock is a Chambers Early Ketland. The buttplate is based on a trade gun buttplat and was filed and formed by Mike from an oversized buttplate. The triggerguard is French trade gun. The rest of the hardware was made by Mike. The engraved cloud side plate and carving really make the fowler a true New England smooth bore. The 20 gauge barrel 46 1/4" long is by Bobby Hoyt based on an original French Trade Gun barrel owned by Mike Brooks. The breech flats transition to a smooth round barrel without a wedding band. Mike Gahagan is a very talented gun builder and in my opinion did a great job creating this N E Fowler. Now we're waiting on turkey season

Tim,
Beautiful, graceful fowler, I love the color.
Thanks for posting,

I saw mike’s posting of this in Facebook and thought, “what a fortunate man it will belong to”.
Congratulations on a splendid Fowler. It’s a treasure.

Beautifully done and a great chunk of wood! Waiting on a picture of it laying on a turkey next spring.
