Need Help Identifying a Pistol

Does anyone recognize this style flintlock pistol, where it's from, or the engraving on the lock plate? I failed to photograph the back side, but I recall it had a military looking brass lock bolt plate with an odd extension that ran forward and attached to the brass muzzle cap. The extension looked "almost" like a belt hook, but was closed on the front end where it met the nose cap. Any help would be appreciated.

Appears to be a French Modéle XIII  cavalry pistol  manufactured at Maubeuge during the reign of Napolean, as in manufacture imperiale

Thank you for your comments on this pistol. It was one of those "whats-it" pieces thrown into a gun deal for one of my collecting acquaintances out here in Indiana. He had no idea of what it was, since he deals in modern firearms. He thought it was probably a Kentucky-style pistol, so he asked me about it. I didn't want to look too ignorant in my response to him, so I posted it here. You've both been very helpful. The breadth of knowledge lurking behind this site is really amazing at times.
