Blunderbuss made in India reworked
« on: December 24, 2023, 03:41:35 PM »
The last weeks I was reworking a blunderbuss made in India.
I decided to start this project with a factory gun from India, because the possibilities to get an appropriate kit here in Germany are more than limited and a Traditions kit was no option.
I reshaped the stock and barrel and fixed some issues the buss came with.
- The bedding of the barrel was poor, with a noticable gap between the breech and stock. Bedded it with an epoxy saw dust mix.
- The tang was fastened with just a wood screw. Made a new trigger plate and installed a propper tang bolt.
Beside some simple carving I engraved the barrel slightly, installed a touch hole liner and had it prooved at a German proof  house.
Finally I tried to age the whole gun.
I'm quite happy with the results.

Interesting, but in my opinion, a Blunderbuss needs larger sized shot 'n maybe other stuff. ;)

I agree. I will try buckshot later. But this small shot is the only shot I have actually. And insn't it in the spirit of the buss to load whatever you have at hand?  ;)

A few pistol balls was a quite common fodder, Grischi.
