Ramrod for a .62 rifle
« on: January 06, 2024, 02:21:30 AM »
Hey all,
I'm building a .62 rifle (parts for an "Officer's Carbine" from TRS circa 1996).
I am wondering about a ramrod. The parts included pipes for a steel rammer, but I imagine I should get one with a brass tip. (Though the Baker Rifle used just a steel ramrod).
Any ideas where- or if- these are available?

It’s 36”.
I’m thinking I might have to fabricate one- maybe solder a piece of brass or copper onto the flat tip of a steel ramrod?

Hi Bob,
You don't need a brass tip.  Just use the steel rod as is.  If you are concerned about wearing the muzzle, use a short starter with a brass tip.

Thank you Dave. My thought was more about the rifling and if a steel rod tip would affect it.

Bob, I don't think a steel rod tip would affect the rifling very much. Yes it will rub, but it's  not the same place every time. I think muzzle condition is a more important consideration.
