Howdy!
I've been going through my old parts
& came up with everything I need to build a southern style, curly ash halfstock. I'm going to use Dillion furniture & a Moody 7/8" 42" barrel. I have enough ash left over from another build to make a wooden under rib for the 42" barrel.
My question is; will a barrel that long be style correct or just look too stupid? I hate to cut the barrel off significantly, but will do it if I need to. The full length barrel is going to make the rifle look really long! Forgot to mention that it will be flint (well tuned Durs Egg).
So what do you guys & girls think? Should I forget ahead, cut the barrel off, or consider a totally different style? If a different style, what should I go to?
Many thanks,
Roger B
