Naval blunderbuss stock wood

Someone was saying that British sea service muskets were made a bit rough and stocked in pretty much whatever wood was available.  Were blunderbuss stocks the same? What wood was used most? Thanks.

 All the British blunderbusses I’ve seen were English walnut, with pretty straight grain. Often sap wood instead of heart wood.

This one is stocked in Black Walnut with 1st model iron hardware and a Getz barrel.

I have seen them in walnut, beech and oak.

As Mike says, and some few old dog locks in ash or elm.  They came as best guns, as well as utility.

Mainly walnut though.
